HIWASSEE RIVER WATERSHED

The Hiwassee River watershed includes parts of Bradley, Meigs, McMinn, Monroe and Polk Counties and drains 1011 square miles before emptying into Chicakamauga Reservoir (Tennessee River). The many river outfitters along the Hiwassee River indicate its popularity among recreational boaters. Hunting and fishing are popular in the Cherokee National Forest. Part of the Hiwassee River is included in the State Scenic River System.
