TWRA Region 2 TWRA Wildlife Management Areas give Middle Tennessee sportsmen public access to land
managed year round for both big and small game. Find out some of what's happening on your
favorite local WMA. The WMAs on this page are all located in TWRA’s Region II. You can learn more about regulations and season dates in the annual Tennessee Hunting and Trapping Guide issued by TWRA and available from businesses that sell hunting and fishing licenses or in a PDF file on this TWRA website. The information on this page is a synopsis of Region II areas accompanied by a few photographs. Check back from time to time as information about WMAs is updated.
AEDC: In Coffee and Franklin Counties. 32,000 acres:
An outstanding WMA known for excellent deer hunting, but also good turkey and small game hunting. It
also has waterfowl hunting on Woods Reservoir. Lots of hardwoods, pine stands, and food plots on
AEDC, including sunflower fields. Excellent dove fields prepared for first segment of dove seasons.
AEDC also has a checking station.

See hunting guide for more information Click here to view a map of Arnold Hollow Map Bark Camp Barrens: In Coffee County. 2,800 acres. This is one of TWRA’s newest WMAs. Some woodlands and some fields. Big game and small game hunting allowed. Click here to view a map of Bark Camp Barrens. Bear Hollow Mountain: In Franklin County. 15,000 acres. This is a mountainous WMA that includes lots of hardwood trees, many foodplots, and regenerating clear cuts. There is a nearby private campground. This WMA is for both hunters, hiker, and even horseback riders. A walking and horse trail runs through the area. It includes scenic views. Good deer and turkey hunting here if you can handle the mountains. Good small game hunting too, especially for squirrel. Click here to view a map of Bear Hollow Mountain. Beaver Dam Creek: In Hickman County. 7,619 acres. Seasons are same as statewide. Big Game and small game hunting allowed. See guide for more information. Click here to view a map of Beaver Dam Creek. Browntown: In Wayne County. 6,336 acres. Seasons are same as statewide. Big Game and small game hunting allowed. See guide for more information. Click here to view a map of Browntown. Cedar Hill Swamp: In Robertson County. 200 acres. Small WMA, but open with statewide seasons. Sometimes holds ducks. See hunting guide for more information. Click here to view a map of Cedar Hill Swamp. Cheatham WMA: In Cheatham County. 20,810 acres. Good deer and turkey hunting. Good squirrel hunting. Regenerating clear cuts, lots of standing hardwood, big and small foodplots, a checking station and a firearm range are included in this WMA. Click here to view a map of Cheatham WMA Cheatham Lake WMA: In Cheatham County. 5,152 acres. Close to Cheatham WMA, but managed more for waterfowl, as the area is adjacent to the Cumberland River. Flooded in the fall and hunted in the winter for ducks and geese. It is, however, open to big and small game hunting. See hunting guide for specifics. Area includes a wheelchair-bound only blind site. Click here to view a map of Cheatham lake WMA Eagle Creek: In Wayne County. 22,000 acres. A rugged WMA that has good deer and turkey hunting. Click here to view a map of Eagle Creek. Flintville Hatchery: In Lincoln County. 750 acres. A small WMA surrounding TWRA’s Flintville Hatchery, where rainbow trout are reared. Deer hunting is archer only. Area is open with statewide seasons. See hunting guide for more information. Click here to view a map of Eagle Creek. Gallatin Steam Plant: In Sumner County. 1,500 acres. Deer hunting allowed on this WMA, but only with archery equipment. See hunting guide for permit information. Click here to view a map of Gallatin Steam Plant. Haley-Jaqueth: In Williamson County. 200 acres. No hunting allowed. Dog training is allowed. See hunting guides for training dates. Click here to view a map of Haley-Jaqueth. Haynes Bottom: In Montgomery County. 971 acres. Waterfowl area adjacent to Cumberland River, but also includes standing timber in an upland style habitat. Click here to view a map of Hick Hill. Hickory Flats: In Coffee County. 800 acres. Open with statewide season. Check for early deer closure in hunting guide. Click here to view a map of Hickory Flats. Laurel Hill. In Lawrence County. 14,000 acres. Good deer and turkey hunting with lots of standing hardwoods, but also many foodplots and crops. Good small game area for squirrel, rabbit, and quail. Primitive camping ground at nearby Laurel Hill Lake. Area includes a checking station.

MTSU: In Hickman County. 995 acres. Open with statewide seasons. Lots of standing hardwoods. See hunting guide for more information. Click here to view a map of MTSU. Normandy: In Bedford and Coffee Counties: 750 acres. Adjacent to Normandy Reservoir. It is important to see map of this area to make sure of WMA boundaries. Only a portion of the land around Normandy is open to big and small game hunting. Boat travel is a good way to access the property. Click here to view a map of Normandy. Old Hickory (Units I., II. III.): Sumner, Wilson, and Trousdale Counties. 6,000 acres. Big and small game hunting allowed here, but area is heavily managed for waterfowl hunting. It is important to view map to understand layout of Old Hickory. Much hunting is only accessible by boat. Wheelchair bound waterfowl blind is included in blinds provided to hunters. Click here to view a map of Owl Hollow Mill. Percy Priest (Unit I, II): In Davidson, Rutherford, and Wilson Counties. 14,500 acres. Unit II surrounds Percy Priest Lake. Islands are open for hunting. A map is necessary to view safety (off limit) areas. Good big and small game hunting, plus good small game hunting. Lots of hardwood timber, but also fields on the area. Waterfowl hunting also allow, but from temporary blinds. Includes a big dog training area on Unit I. This unit has limited hunting, but is also adjacent to Percy Priest Lake.

Yanahli: Open with statewide season on for most game. Deer season traditionally has early closing date of mid-December. Food plots on area, lots of timber and fields adjacent to Duck River.
