Region 2 WMA Directions

AEDC
Archie Whitehead (931/967-6101)

From Nashville, take I-24 east (toward Chattanooga) and exit at the Arnold Air Force Base exit (#117). Turn right onto Wattendorf Highway. The WMA is on both sides of the highway, all the way to Tullahoma. To get to the check station from the interstate, take Wattendorf Highway past the Air Force Main Gate and turn left onto Winchester Highway. Go three miles and turn right onto Old Brick Church Road. Go two miles and turn left at the check station sign. Maps are outside at the check station.

ARNOLD HOLLOW

From Waynesboro, take Hwy. 64 west (toward Savannah). Turn left (south) onto Arnold Hollow Road. Follow Arnold Hollow Road until you come to the management area signs [on the west side (right) of the road]. Davis Road is just past the wma boundary and is the access road to the interior of the area.

BARK CAMP BARRENS

From Nashville, take I-24 east to the third Manchester exit (Hwy 55). Go north on Hwy 55 across the interstate and take the first right (Ragsdale Road). Go about five miles to the beginning of the WMA on the right. The WMA is in several tracts, some of which border Ragsdale Road. Hickerson Road intersects Ragsdale Road and passes through part of the WMA.

BEAR HOLLOW MOUNTAIN

Located on Highway 16 out of Winchester to Alabama line. Open statewide season except area closes to deer hunting 12/18/05.

BEAVER DAM CREEK

From Centerville, take Hwy. 100 west (toward Linden). Hwy. 100 divides the area into two parts. The Doochin tract lies on both sides of Hwy. 100 about ? of a mile past Hwy.48. This tract can be accessed from Hwy. 100, Hwy. 48, Arnold Road, Wades Branch Road or Brushy Road. The Samford tract can be accessed by turning right (north) off Hwy. 100 onto Wades Branch Road. Follow Wades Branch Road to Milam Branch Road. Milam Branch Road accesses the east side of the tract. Joe's Branch Road marks the northern boundary of the tract. Everything on the south side (left) of Joe's Branch Road is wma.

BROWNTOWN

From Waynesboro, take Hwy. 13 south toward Collinwood. Turn right (west) onto Bear Creek Road. Bear Creek Road runs along the south and west sides of the area. Pea Ridge Road accessed the east side of the area and takes you to Scott Road that accesses the north side.

CEDAR HILL SWAMP

From Springfield, take Highway 41 ten miles to the town of Cedar Hill. Turn left and go one mile through town. Turn left onto Goodman Road. Goodman Road ends on the WMA.

CHEATHAM LAKE

This is the waterfowl area near Ashland City. It is located on Corps of Engineers property on both sides of Cheatham Lake, mostly downstream of the Hwy 49 bridge. No check station.

CHEATHAM WMA

From Ashland City, take Hwy 49 toward Charlotte. Cross the river and continue four miles to Hwy. 250. Turn left onto Hwy 250 and go four miles to the WMA entrance, on your left. The check station is three miles from the entrance and maps are outside the check station. The firing range is on the left before you get to the check station and is open noon until dark daily.

EAGLE CREEK

From the court square in Waynesboro, follow Hwy 64 west two blocks. Turn right onto Clifton Turnpike. The WMA will be about three miles from Waynesboro on both sides of Clifton Turnpike. Maps are outside at the check station, which is also on Clifton Turnpike.

FLINTVILLE HATCHERY

From Winchester take Hwy. 64 west toward Fayetteville, just across the Lincoln County line at Flintville look for the entrance to the hatchery on the right. Management Area is on both sides of the road going down to the hatchery.

GALLATIN STEAM PLANT

From Gallatin, take Hwy 109 south. Just before crossing the Cumberland River, turn left onto Odom's Bend Road. Follow Odom's Bend Road to Steam Plant Road. Turn right onto Steam Plant Road to Gallatin Steam Plant.

A free permit is required. For permit information contact the TWRA Region II Office at (615) 781-6622. Archery equipment only. Dog training prohibited. No camping. Parking in designated areas.

HAYNES BOTTOM

From Clarksville, at the junction of Hwy 41A and Hwy 79 on the west side of town, take Hwy 79 (Dover Road) 2.5 miles to Dotsonville Road. Turn left onto Dotsonville Road and go seven miles to the end of Dotsonville Road. Turn left, go 100 yards and turn left onto Chester Harris Road. Go 2.5 miles and turn left onto Woodrow. The WMA entrance is ? mile on the left. The WMA boundary is marked with yellow plastic posts.

HICK HILL

From Hohenwald, take Hwy. 20 east toward Summertown four miles. Turn left (north) onto Little Swan Creek Road, go to Newburg Road take it for ? mile and area will be on east (right) side of the road.
From Summertown, take Hwy. 20 16 miles west toward Hohenwald. Turn right (north) onto Little Swan Creek Road, go to Newburg Road and take it for ? mile and area will be on east (right) side of the road.

HICKORY FLATS

From I-24 take Hwy. 41 south toward Hillsboro. Approximately one mile from the interstate, turn east (left) onto Asbury Road. Go approximately 4/10ths of a mile and part of the area will be on the south (right) side of the road. 1/10 mile after you leave the south side of the area, you come have the boundary of the north side on the left of Asbury Road. Turn left onto Clifton Scott Road and on the left (west) side of the road is the management area.

LAUREL HILL

From Columbia, take Hwy 43 to Hwy 20. Follow Hwy 20 through Summertown and turn left on Hwy 240 (Turnpike Road). Take Hwy 240 to Hwy 241 (Napier Road). Turn right on Hwy 241 four miles to Hwy 64. Maps are outside at the check station.

LONG POND

From Clarksville, take Riverside Drive, go North on 41A up through New Providence. On the north end of New Providence, the highway will split. Take the left split toward Dover on 79W. Go about 2 ? miles and turn left onto Dotsonville Road. Go down Dotsonville Road until you come to a store on the left. Turn left by the store onto Martin Road until you come to a fork. Fork to the right and follow this road until it turns into gravel. You will pass some trailers that are very near the road. Just past the trailers, down in the river bottoms is Long Pond. The area is marked with yellow signs.

MTSU

From Centerville, take Hwy 50 five miles across an old iron bridge. Go 100 yards past the bridge and turn right. Go to the top of the hill and turn left. Go three miles to the WMA.

OLD HICKORY

The WMA is the Corps of Engineers property around Old Hickory Lake. The WMA is divided into three units plus a refuge. No check station. Access is from various points around the lake, but much of the WMA is accessible primarily by water.

PERCY PRIEST

The WMA is the Corps of Engineers property around the Percy Priest Lake. Unit I is in the Lavergne area, near Poole Knobs Recreation Area. The rest of the WMA is Unit II. No check station. Access from various points around the lake or by water.

SHELTON'S FERRY

From Clarksville, take Hwy 49 south. Turn left at power substation onto Southside Drive. Southside Drive ends in Shelton's Ferry river bottom.

STONES RIVER HUNTER EDUCATION CENTER

Open Friday, Saturday (10:00 a.m. until sunset), and Sunday (l:00 p.m. until sunset).
From I-40, take Mt. Juliet exit. Go south on South Mt. Juliet to Hobson Pike. Cross Percy Priest Lake and the range is on the left.
From I-24, take Old Hickory Blvd. Exit. Go north on Old Hickory Blvd. across Murfreesboro Road onto Hobson Pike. The range is four miles on the right.

TIE CAMP

From Waynesboro, take Hwy. 13 south toward Collinwood. Turn east (left) onto Green River Road. Take Green River Road to Double Branch Road. To access north half of the area turn left onto Risner Ridge Road and to access the south continue on Double Branch Road, after you cross the Natchez Trace Parkway, the south half is on the east (left) side of the road.

WILLIAMSPORT

From Columbia, take Hwy. 50 ten miles toward Centerville. After you cross the Duck River at Williamsport, the entrance to the area will be marked with a large sign. The entrance road is a hard right (Akin Ridge Road is also there, but it is straight as you make the right turn off of Hwy. 50).

YANAHLI

From I-65, the area can be accessed from either US 412 or state Hwy. 50. This is the former TVA property along the Duck River, east of Columbia. No checking station. It is in various tracts along the Duck River from Columbia east to the Marshall County line. You will need a map to find your way around Yanahli. You can get a map from the Region 2 office or pick up one at the boat ramp off Iron Bridge Road just off Tom Hitch Parkway.
