HUNTER EDUCATION
CLASSES FOR REGION 4
 

 

**NOTE** The following class schedule is current and is updated the day the information is received from our Region 4 office.  Registration for the classes listed below will be on the 1st night unless a phone number for pre-registration is listed. Please bring a pencil, your Social Security Number, and your current mailing address to the class.   

 **NOTE** If you have lost or need to replace your Hunter Education card, please call the TWRA Regional Office near the county where you took the class.  They will verify your information and make sure we have your correct mailing address in our computer system.  Then you can go to your nearest TWRA license agent and request a replacement card.  There is a $7.00 fee for the Hunter Education Card replacement.

The class is free and you must attend every class meeting to successfully complete the course. Please bring a pencil and your Social Security Number to the first class.  Students must be at least 9 years old when the class begins.

Anyone born on or after January 1, 1969 must possess proof that they have successfully completed a hunter education class before hunting in Tennessee.

Those under 10 years of age do not need a Hunter Education certificate, but must be accompanied by an adult at least 21 years of age, who must remain in a position to take immediate control of the hunting device.

All classes will have an additional "live fire" classroom day.

The hunter education class instructs students in Hunter Responsibility, Hunter Ethics, Hunting Tools, Shooting Fundamentals, Firearm Safety, Wildlife Management, Survival, and First Aid.

CLASS SCHEDULE

Carter County - Sycamore Shoals State Park, starts September 10 at 6:00 p.m.; classes will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday; Dennis Ward - Instructor.

Hamblen County - Region 4 Office (3030 Wildlife Way in Morristown), Saturday, August 11 (8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.), and Saturday, August 18 (8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.), Nathan Ripley - Instructor.

Knox County - John Sevier Range (2327 Rifle Range Road, Knoxville), starts August 13, 2007 at 6:00 p.m., classes will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday; pre-register  and confirmation number is required by calling (865) 594-6280.

Sevier County - Kodak United Methodist Church (2923 Bryan Rd., just off Hwy. 66, one mile south of I-40 , Exit 407); starts August 6 at 6:00 p.m.; Art Smith  Instructor.

CD/ONLINE CLASS FIELD DAY

These field days are only for those who have completed a CD or Online Class.  MUST BRING IN FINAL REPORT and each student must make a minimum of "75" on the online test and the final test to pass the class.
