HUNTER EDUCATION
CLASSES FOR REGION 3

 


**NOTE** The following class schedule is current and is updated the day the information is received from our Region 3 office.

**NOTE** If you have lost or need to replace your Hunter Education card, please call the TWRA Regional Office near the county where you took the class.  They will verify your information and make sure we have your correct mailing address in our computer system.  Then you can go to your nearest TWRA license agent and request a replacement card.  There is a $7.00 fee for the Hunter Education Card replacement.

The class is free and you must attend every class meeting to successfully complete the course. Please bring a pencil and your Social Security Number to the first class.  Students must be at least 9 years old when the class begins.

Anyone born on or after January 1, 1969 must possess proof that they have successfully completed a hunter education class before hunting in Tennessee.

Those under 10 years of age do not need a Hunter Education certificate, but must be accompanied by an adult at least 21 years of age, who must remain in a position to take immediate control of the hunting device.

All classes will have a "live fire" classroom day.

The hunter education class instructs students in Hunter Responsibility, Hunter Ethics, Hunting Tools, Shooting Fundamentals, Firearm Safety, Wildlife Management, Survival, and First Aid.

Bradley County - Cleveland Hunting, Rifle, & Pistol Club (Leadmine Valley Road), July 13 (6:00 - 9:30 p.m.), and Saturday, July 14 (8:00 a.m. until finished); MUST ATTEND ALL CLASSES; pre-register by calling the instructor, Don McCoy, at (423) 472-4134 or (423) 618-9559.

Bradley County - Cleveland State Community College, August 20-23 (6:30 - 9:30 p.m.), and Sunday, August 26 (8:30 a.m. until finished); MUST ATTEND ALL CLASSES; must pre-register by calling the college at (423) 473-2458; Ted Keirn - Instructor.

Cumberland County - Cumberland Mountain State Park Recreation Lodge, September 10, 11, 13, and 14 (6:00 - 9:00 p.m.), and Saturday, September 15 (will shoot); register 1st night of class; MUST ATTEND ALL CLASSES; Casey Mullen - Instructor.

Hamilton County - BOWHUNTER EDUCATION CLASS, Highland Sportsman Club, Saturday, August 4 (8:30 a.m. until finished); bring your archery equipment for the class if available; must register at and receive confirmation before admittance to the class; Tony Sanders - Instructor;  (423) 842-6738.

Hamilton County - CD/Online Field Day, John A. Patterson Center in Chattanooga, Saturday, August 25 (9:00 a.m. until finished); student must complete a home study course using CD/Online prior to Field Day activities; must register by calling the instructor, David Byrd, at (423) 825-0438 after 11:00 a.m. No calls on Sunday, please.

Morgan County - Oakdale School, July 26 and 27 (6:00 - 9:00 p.m.), and Saturday, July 28 (8:00 a.m. until finished); MUST ATTEND ALL CLASSES; pre-register by calling the instructor, Tom Powers, at (423) 369-2572.

Putnam County - Monterey Church of Christ Fellowship Building, August 16-17 (6:00 - 9:00 p.m.), and Saturday, August 18 (9:00 a.m. until finished); MUST ATTEND ALL CLASSES; register 1st night of class; Tim Singleton - Instructor.
