Introduction to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency'sTennessee Animal Biogeographic System The Tennessee Animal Biogeographic System (TABS) contains data on amphibians, birds, fish, mammals, reptiles and selected invertebrates of Tennessee. TABS is an information system that can be used by educators, planners, biologists, and ecologists who need complete and concise information about animal species taxonomy, status, distribution, habitat associations, enviromental parameters, life history, management practices, food habits, and references. This information can be applied to species management, habitat planniong, enviromental assessment, watershed planning, research, wildlife extension, and education. TABS can be accessed at http://fwie.fw.vt.edu/TN/. The Fish and Wildlife Information Exchange (FWIE) at Virginia Tech have developed, managed, or assisted with species inofrmation systems for several state, provincial, and national fish and wildlife agencies.
