2008 License Information Fishing licenses go on sale February 18 each year, the beginning of prime fishing, and are valid through the last day of February. You can purchase most licenses, except the Lifetime Sportsman License, from most county clerks, sporting goods stores, hardware stores, boat docks and all Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency regional offices. License Ordering By PhoneYou can buy hunting and fishing licenses with a credit card using a toll-free number or you can purchase your license online. You can purchase almost all TWRA license types. Dial 1-888-814-TWRA (8972) from anywhere in the United States or Canada, and within minutes you'll have a temporary license number enabling you to hunt (in season) or fish right away. Your permanent license will be mailed within 48 hours. Please note, in addition to the cost of the license, there is an additional $3.95 processing fee for telephone sales. Licenses purchased online will have a $3.25 charge to a credit card for processing. You may also order your license by mail. Just send your name, address (including zip code), social security number, date of birth, physical features (height, weight, eye and hair color), and enclose the correct fee to TWRA Sales Office, P. O. Box 41729, Nashville, TN 37204-1729. Who Must Have a Tennessee License? If you take fish or attempt to take fish (including crayfish) by any method or if you assist someone else to do so, you must have a valid fishing license. Misplace Your License? If you misplace your fishing license, contact any agent and ask for a duplicate license. There is a $7.00 replacement fee ($6.00 goes to the TWRA; $1.00 to the agent). NOTE: Giving false information to obtain a license is a misdemeanor punishable by fine and loss of license. Licenses are not transferable.
