TWRA FIRING RANGES

 

REGION I

Natchez Trace State Park Firing Range - Contact Natchez Trace State Park office at (731) 968-3742.

Bartlett Hunter Education and Range Facility - Fee required. Located at 3200 Brother Blvd.  Contact Sam Murrey at (901) 213-3124. Hours: Tuesday (12:00 PM - 5:00 PM), Wednesday & Thursday (11:00 AM - 9:00 PM), and Saturday (9:00 AM - 4:30 PM).  Closed on Sunday, Monday, and Friday.

REGION II

Cheatham WMA Firing Range and Archery Range - Open 12:00 noon until dark every day.  Fee required: Adult (age 16 or older - $5.50 for 2 hours), Youth (under 16 years of age - $1.50 for 2 hours).  Must purchase the range entrance ticket from a TWRA license agent.  No tickets available at the range.  Use or possession of alcoholic beverages prohibited. Concessionaire: Steve Shelton (food, drink and some supplies available).

Hours of Business: Friday, Saturday—10:00 a.m. until sunset (but no later than 8 p.m.).
Sunday—1:00 p.m. to sunset (but no later than 8:00 p.m.).

Directions: From Nashville—Take I-24 west to Exit 11. Turn left and travel 8.6 miles to Highway 48/13.  Turn left on Hwy. 48/13 and travel 8.6 miles to Southside Road. Turn left on Southside Road and travel 6.4 miles to Montgomery County Shooting Complex on the right.

Cost (permits must be purchased before entrance to range):
15 and under: $1.50 for two-hour permit.
15 and under annual permit: $25.00.
Adults: $5.50 for two-hour permit.
Adults annual permit: $101.00.

Clay Targets: $4 per round.

Facility includes: Pistol and small arms Range (42 stations out to 100 yards).
Rifle range (10 stations out to 400 yards).
Trap stations (two stations).
Roving Archery Range (targets at unknown distances).
Field Archery Range (known distances from 10 to 80 yards).
 
Coming soon (early in 2007): Two combination skeet and trap fields.
Youth Archery Range (draw weight 30 lbs or less).

In The Future: Total of 9 combination trap and skeet fields.
Hunter Education Banquet Facility (400 seats).
Wildlife Interpretive Trails.

REGION III

Catoosa WMA - Peavine Checking Station and Genesis Checking Station. Open Apr. 1-Jan. 31, except during turkey hunts. Contact Jim Lane (931) 456-2479.

Prentice Cooper WMA - Rifles and handguns only. No shotguns. Open Thursdays through Mondays, daylight hours only. Contact Rob Klippel. (423) 658-2518.

REGION IV

John Sevier Hunter Education Center - 2327 Rifle Range Road, Knoxville. Tommy Whitehead (865) 594-6279 or website. Pistol/rifle/archery ranges open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Shotgun ranges open Saturday and Sunday 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Tuesday 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
