Horseback RidingTennessee State Parks offers equestrian support facilities or trails at
Natchez Trace, Big Hill Pond and Chickasaw in West Tennessee, Cedars of Lebanon
and Fall Creek Falls in Middle Tennessee and Panther Creek and Warriors Path in
East Tennessee.
Tennessee State Parks' policies on Saddle and Pack Animals With the exception of Panther Creek and Big Hill Pond State Park, all equestrian facilities in state parks are either guided rental horses or support facilities for guests accessing the trails on lands managed by the Tennessee Division of Forestry. Additionally, horseback riding is very popular on National Forest and National Park lands near Pickett and Hiwassee/Ocoee State Parks. Although these parks do not provide support facilities or trails for equestrian activities, rental horses are available nearby.
Big Hill Pond - Big Hill Pond provides 14 miles of equestrian trail which are primarily located on old logging roads and the park gravel roads. There is limited parking for rigs and a primitive, undeveloped campground area. No rental facilities are available. Visitors must bring their own horse. Fall Creek Falls - The stables offer guided, two-mile wooded trail rides April through October by a privately leased operation. Rental horses only. For more information, contact the stables at 423-881-5952. Frozen Head State Park - The park has one trail that is accessible for horseback riding. The Jeep Road trail is a 6.9-mile trail, one-way. From late spring until late fall, trail riders should pack their own water. This trail is for day-use only. There are no overnight facilities or camping for horses. Visitors must bring their own horses. Trailers should be unloaded and parked in the grassy field adjacent to the park entrance gate. This trail is shared with bicyclists. Contact the park for more information.Natchez Trace - Natchez Trace State Park is located within a State Forest. The State Park provides a wrangler campground where people can camp with their horse. Horses may also be boarded in the adjacent barn. Over 100 miles of horse trail are located on Natchez Trace State Forest. Chickasaw - Chickasaw State Park is located within a State Forest. The State Park provides a wrangler campground where people can camp with their horse. Rental horses are available for guided trail rides. There are over 100 miles of horse trail located in Chickasaw State Forest. Cedars of Lebanon - Cedars of Lebanon State Park is adjacent to a State Forest. Rental horses are available for guided rides. Visitors may bring their own horse and ride on over 100 miles of trail in the State Forest. Panther Creek - Panther Creek State Park has seven miles of trail for horses. Rental horses are not available. Visitors must bring their own horse. Warrior's Path - Warriors Path State Park offers rental horses that are available for guided trail rides on a 5-mile trail. Park visitors are not allowed to bring their own horse.
