Wildlife is abundant and includes three different owl species, numerous hawks and wintering bald eagles as well as the rare Cerulean Warbler, a summer resident of the park’s mixed hardwood forests, which include stands of Tulip Poplar, Oak, Hickory, Buckeye and Wild Cherry. An observation tower at the Visitor Center offers a spectacular view of Center Hill Lake and the surrounding hillsides.

Historical Significance
The Park was dedicated in 1975 and named for James Edgar Evins, a Dekalb County businessman and mayor of nearby Smithville. As a 2-term state senator, Evins was instrumental in the development of Center Hill Dam and Reservoir.Conference Center and Meeting Rooms
Indoor meeting space is available in the Camper Registration Building. This building can comfortably accommodate 35 people and is handicapped accessible. It is free to cabin guests, but requires reservations. Outside parties may rent the building for a minimal charge. The restaurant at Edgar Evins is the Sweet Water Grill, located at Edgar Evins Marina. The Marina and restaurant are considered part of the park but are privately owned and operated. Edgar Evins State Park offers cabins and camping for your lodging convenience. The park features a modern, 34-unit lodging complex. Each one-bedroom unit is completely equipped for housekeeping and can accommodate 6 adults. The park also offers 60 tent and trailer campsites with water and electrical hookups. These platform-type sites are built around the slopes of Center Hill Lake and are equipped with a table, grill and fire rings.Click a link below for photos and more information on that lodging option.

Interpretative programs for all ages are scheduled during the summer months. Subjects range from local history to flora and fauna. Special programs are also provided upon request.

Amphitheatre
A small fire circle is located adjacent to the campground, which may be used by the public, provided no park programs are scheduled there. It seats approximately 15 people.Gift Shop
Edgar Evins Gift shop is located at the Park Office. It is open 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., seven days a week all year. Inventory includes a selection of unique gifts, seasonal shirts, children's wear, caps, stained glass, assorted stuffed animals and locally crafted hiking sticks.
